Research and development

Development of new trading platforms and expansion of the portfolio of investment instruments available on WSE markets are the key elements of the Group strategy. Such activities will bring long-term advantages in the form of new groups of investors and new sources of revenues. The year 2012 witnessed a few important events for the development of the Group and the capital market in Poland:

  • 2 April – WSE introduces cross orders;
  • 24 May – NYSE Technologies and WSE announce a partnership in the sale of market data and participation in SFTI;
  • 30 May – WSE starts to calculate and publish the first regional index WIG-CEE;
  • 27 June– WSE publishes the composition of the new segments of the NewConnect market: High Liquidity Risk (HLR) and Super High Liquidity Risk (SHLR);
  • 27 August – WSE launches a mobile application for Apple iOS and Android users to acces exchange quotations and information;
  • 12 September – 237 structured products issued by Raiffeisen Centrobank AG are newly listed on WSE;
  • 3 December – WSE starts to calculate and publish the WIG20TR index which includes income from shares, in particular dividends and pre-emptive rights;
  • 20 December – Gas Exchange opens on the Polish Power Exchange;
  • 5 new classes of single-stock futures are introduced to trading (futures on shares of 22 companies were in trading as at the end of 2012).
